From the Desk of THE COMMISH
Hey Now,
The survey is closed and we have a handful of SMALL rule changes for DFFL in 2009 (two for scoring, two for playoffs, and two for $). They are outlined below - I am also attaching the survey results to this email. Please note that not everything we voted on is in for next year - don't want to shake it up so much we break the damn thing...
1. CHANGE: LIMITED FLEX POSITION REPLACES ONE OF THE WRs. A limited flex (rb/wr/te only) will replace one of our three wr spots next year. Note - the bench will remain at 6. Therefore, our starting roster will be 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 DEF, 1 KICKER. Bench of 6 spots. 15 players - 15 round draft.
2. CHANGE: DEFENSE SCORING INCREASED. D will be slightly punched up; as in 6pts for td and 2 pts for fumbles & ints... but sacks remain at 1 and points against remain the same.
3. CHANGE: PLAYOFFS SEEDS INCLUDE REMAINING HIGH SCORER. Now the top 5 seeds are in based on record (same as this year), but the 6th spot is for the remaining team with the highest points.
4. CHANGE: 3RD PLACE ENTERS DRAFT SLOT LOTTERY. Finishing 3rd no longer, starting in 2009, mandates drafting 10th. 1st and 2nd are still 12th and 11th, respectively, but 3rd enters the draft slot lottery.
5. CHANGE: DUES INCREASE. $225 next year. Let me know if this is a hardship for you. The payouts will increase in the same relative amounts for 2009.
6. CHANGE: WEEKLY HIGH/LOW SCORES ARE BACK. Each week, the high and low scorer will receive and owe, respectively, $10 (collected at season end).
7. NO CHANGE: Free Agents remain for keeping as an 8th round pick - hence a 6th round keeper in the following year.
8. NOT THIS YEAR: B-League. Great idea - lets continue to collect names for the league throughout the 2009 season and see if we can launch it in 2010. We currently have 2 people on the waiting list...
9. NO: Trading of future picks. You can trade keepers and draft picks as soon as we "start" the season on Aug 14 when fees are due. But no future (i.e. next year) picks can be traded.
10. NO: Points for a player being on a team that wins.
Thanks so much again for a great year. We had a hell of a race for the last couple playoff spots and saw two great teams battle for the championship. Hopefully Bart likes his cheerleading trophy!
Best,
Commish
